Anna Karin Axelsson defends her doctoral thesis on May 27. Her research focuses on children with profound disabilities and their participation in family activities.
"My research focuses on children with profound disabilities and their participation in family activities", says doctoral student in disability research, Anna Karin Axelsson.
"And my research is also based on the knowledge about participation as a prerequisite for learning as well as an important aspect of health".
Anna Karin Axelsson is a registered physical therapist. She has been working in different fields of physical therapy, of which the past ten years in the area of children- and youth habilitation.
"The different studies in my thesis are about the child's presence and involvement in the routines and activities of the family, the role of the personal assistant in the family and also about facilitating factors to promote the child's participation", explains Anna Karin Axelsson.
The studies have a qualitative and a quantitative approach and include questionnaires, interviews and focus groups.
On Tuesday 27 May at 1 pm, Anna Karin Axelsson defends her doctoral theis Children with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities and their participation in family activities in Forum Humanum, School of Health Sciences.
