Overview

In a time where anthropogenic climate change threatens some of the conditions we depend on, and where inequality and armed conflicts remain global problems, the need for relevant communication on global sustainability becomes urgent.

You will study the relationship between media and communication and the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainability. The education is closely connected to the research environment of JU, which has been published extensively in areas such as environmental communication, global journalism, transmedia storytelling, and communication for development.

The programme is offered as 1-year (60 credits) and 2-year (120 credits). The latter is an extension of the former, which means that all students study together during the first year.

The need for communication experts in sustainability will increase as the UN Sustainable Development Goals continues. With a Master's degree, you will have many opportunities to work in sustainability communication, both globally and regionally. This could be as a communications specialist or with Corporate Social Responsibility. Your role is becoming important and increasingly relevant. Students at the 2-year programme have the opportunity to study further at doctoral level.

The 2-year programme includes a 5-week internship. As a student, you can arrange an internship yourself, but the University can also arrange an internship through a close collaboration with The Climate Council in Jönköping, where many companies and organisations work together for a better climate.
