Children's rights
Neither children nor adults in Sweden have sufficient knowledge about children’s rights. Including and talking with children about matters that concern them is something we need to improve. Otherwise, there is a risk that extensive efforts or measures are carried out that we adults believe are in the best interests of the child, but which do not benefit the individual child.
Frida Lygnegård’s research focuses on enabling the participation of children and young people in society and on the implementation of children’s human rights. Children’s rights are a vital part of socially sustainable development and essential to achieving the goals of Agenda 2030, which aims to leave no one behind. Feel free to watch the video below about Frida’s research.
A report on children’s rights in parenting support interventions, written by Frida Lygnegård, has also been published by the Swedish Agency for Family Law and Parental Support (MFoF). The assignment involves conducting a limited mapping review to identify existing research and highlight how children’s rights are upheld in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and how they are included in parenting support interventions, as well as identifying successful approaches.
