## About the programme Digitalisation, sustainability, and the circular economy are transforming the way products are developed, designed, and manufactured. Today, product development is as much about data, simulation, and automation as it is about traditional engineering and design. The industry needs engineers who can connect design, production, and digital innovation, and this programme reflects the ongoing technological transformation of modern industry. The programme combines hands-on experience with cutting-edge engineering software for virtual product development, giving you a broad perspective on product and production development. You will learn how to systematise and maintain knowledge within product and production platforms - an invaluable skill for future engineers. You will also gain knowledge in programming to automate engineering work and create digital models of products. Each student is assigned a personal mentor from one of our partner companies. The mentorship provides professional guidance, and opportunities to build a strong professional network during your studies. ### You will work with - Digitalisation and automation in product development - Multidisciplinary optimisation and virtual modelling of products - Sustainable design and material/process selection for circular solutions - Data analysis and AI applications for design and production - Knowledge and information management in product platforms Through projects, lab work, and close collaboration with industry, you will develop both technical expertise and strategic thinking - preparing you to lead digital innovation in product development. ### What will you learn? You will develop the ability to: - Analyse and optimise products for performance, manufacturability and sustainability - Use simulations and mathematical models to predict system behaviour - Automate engineering processes using programming and digital tools - Apply AI and data analytics to support smart industry and sustainable production - Integrate product and production development, both organisationally and technologically ### An international and inspiring environment At Jönköping University, you will study in an international environment with close connections to research and industry. You will collaborate with students and faculty from around the world and take part in projects directly linked to industrial practice. The campus is characterised by creativity, entrepreneurship, and community - an ideal environment for developing as an engineer and contributing to a more sustainable future. ### Your future career After graduation, you will have the ability to predict and optimise the behaviour of products using modelling and mathematical methods. You will be ready for positions such as Product Development Engineer, R&D Engineer, Digitalisation or Innovation Specialist, or Sustainability and Life Cycle Analyst. Your expertise will be in demand in industries focusing on digital transformation and smart manufacturing, such as the automotive industry, manufacturing sector, energy industry, and in engineering consulting firms. The programme also provides eligibility for doctoral studies at Jönköping University or other universities.
