About the programme:

In today's world, the reliance on big data is increasing. As organizations and governments accumulate more data, it becomes crucial to analyse and strategically utilise it to create evidence-based decisions.

This trend has created a high demand for individuals who can transform large amounts of data into valuable societal insights using reliable analytical methods. Specifically, there is a need for analytical talents with statistical and programming skills who also have a good understanding of different policy contexts. Do you want to be one of them?

This economics programme provides you with theoretical and practical tools, building upon your previous knowledge of the subject. The programme has a strong international character, and you will interact with students and teachers from all over the world.

In the first semester, you will take microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematics, and econometrics courses. The second semester will focus on studying current topics in economics, such as geographical and information platform economics. You will also have the chance to apply theories and practical tools to real-world cases in companies and organisations. The second year will involve courses in programming and machine learning, along with a 10-week internship at a company or organization of your own choice to gain practical experience in your future profession. The program will conclude with the completion of your master’s thesis.

Upon graduation, you will have the skills to work closely with decision-makers, to process and analyse large amounts of data, and to effectively communicate your analysis to leaders. Potential employers include national and international companies, public sector organisations, aid agencies, as well as international organisations such as the UN, EU and OECD. Former students have pursued careers as data analysts, strategists and business developers.

After graduation, you will be eligible for the PhD programme in economics at JIBS, as well asother PhD programmes worldwide.
