The manufacturing industry is undergoing rapid change, driven by shifting markets, shorter product lifecycles, and growing demands for customization. Emerging technologies, automation, and the EU’s 2050 circular economy goals add further complexity. To stay competitive, companies must adopt sustainable production methods and circular economic principles. They need engineers like you, with advanced skills in designing and managing efficient, adaptable production systems.
This master’s programme prepares you to meet the challenges of modern manufacturing. It emphasizes the development, operation, and management of flexible, adaptive production systems designed to promote sustainability and global competitiveness.
By blending theoretical knowledge with practical applications, the programme offers a holistic understanding of production systems and their role in the broader product realization process. Simulation and automation are key components of the curriculum. You will learn to evaluate and implement technologies and methods that balance flexibility, automation, and environmental responsibility while also addressing economic and social considerations.

After graduation
After graduation you will be a highly skilled engineer with a sustainable, innovative mindsets for future development of a complex and digitalized industry. The programme provides a good foundation for working in a wide range of industrial positions or an academic career - nationally or internationally. Possible roles include Production Engineer, Production Technician or Production Developer within manufacturing focusing on sustainability and industrialisation projects. You will also be able to work as a manager or as a consultant.
The programme also qualifies you to apply for continued postgraduate studies leading to an academic career.
