The Cybersecurity and Privacy Research group (CPR) at CSI focuses on making cybersecurity and privacy work for organizations and individuals. In a world where threats and threat agents seem to be in every corner, we are devoted to finding ways for organizations and individuals to integrate and adopt security and privacy techniques to counteract those threats. We do that by adopting a multidisciplinary approach where we consider cybersecurity and privacy to be the result of the interplay between technology, the organizations the technology supports, and the individuals who use it.

CPR is part of a cybersecurity and privacy environment at JTH, which also includes two study programmes at the bachelor’s and master’s levels with approximately 300 students. Our mission is to collaborate closely with society and tackle societal challenges with partners from industry and public sector stakeholders. Do not hesitate to get in touch!

Current research projects

Our research focus on human-centered cybersecurity and privacy that works for people and organizations. We acknowledge that security technology is important for cybersecurity and privacy. However, we do have plenty of technology. Still, security and privacy breaches are as common as ever. The main reason is the human factor which seems to be at the root of most of those breaches. Intentionally or unintentionally, humans struggle to efficiently adopt security and privacy principles and technology. In broad terms, that is our research area. We are currently involved in the following projects at the School or Engineering:

CC-arch Opens in new window. which explores a cybersecurity centered DPP architecture and is sub-project in the KKS synergy project Pass4Sustainability.

SMARTE Opens in new window.is a research project that seeks to improve the efficiency, transparency, and predictability of Sweden’s environmental permitting process.

RECAP Opens in new window. is a project within KKS Jubilee PhD student network which seeks to address cybersecurity awareness strategies in SMEs.

CyPer Opens in new window. is a project connected to the PhD school of Cybercampus and seeks to investigate the use of generative AI for personalization of cybersecurity awareness raising.

ReaTCH is a smaller reserach project, funded by Cybercampus, that seeks to investigate primary school teashers perception of their own ability and needs for teaching cyberhygiene.

Folkbildning is a mapping study which aims to map Swedish initiatives within cybersecurity awareness raising of the public. The initiative is funded by Cybercampus.

CyDev is a development project funded by KKS which supports the development of human aspects of cybersecurity, and cybersecurity an AI as subjects at JTH.

CyProd Opens in new window.aims to develop a framework with key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate and govern cybersecurity awareness measures (CSA) in small and medium-sized manufacturing companies.

AI-REASON AI-assisted Reliable and Explainable Analysis for Security OperatioNs. Funded by VINNOVA (2026-2028). The project is a collaboration between the CPR and HCT, together with the industry partner Dizparc Security Solutions AB.

SAVIOR AI-Supported Alert Validation for Industrial SOC Response. Funded by VINNOVA (2026-2028). The project is a collaboration between the CPR and HCT, together with the industry partners Dizparc Security Solutions, TD SYNNEX, Bufab, Sydved, Proton Group, and Carlsson & Möller.
