Aluminium and its alloy are materials with high strength to wiegh ratio and therefore are really good in producing light structures and reducing fuel consumption. Moreover, Aluminium is one of the metal easier to recycle and therefore improving the sustainability of a product and contributing to the circular economy revolution.

Aluminium is known to be a metal that is resistant to corrosion, but when we work with aluminium alloys this is not always true. Alloying elements are added to Al to increase the mechanical performances, but can be detrimental to the durability of the metal.

In this webinar, we will focus on understanding how alloying element influence corrosion resistance of Al alloys and what we should consider when choosing and testing an Al alloy.

Date: May 20, 2021

Time: 10:00-11:00 (+ 30 min group discussion and networking)

After attending this webinar you will know more about:

  • How the alloy chemical composition affects corrosion resistance
  • What are the possible degradation mechanisms of Al alloys
  • How manufacturing process affect the durability of Al alloys

This webinar is specifically useful for Process engineers, designers, procurement managers, end user of Al alloy products. Everyone with interest in Al finishing are also welcomed.

This is the first of 3 webinars on Al surface technologies. In the next webinar we will focus more on Corrosion challenges (20th of May 2021) and Anodizing (3rd of June 2021)
