Many interested in Spring Career Day
On 23 January, the entrance to the School of Health and Welfare (HHJ) at Jönköping University (JU) was filled with different stands, tables, roll-ups and many visitors. The reason was the Career Day which invited students to meet the public sector, future employers to network and also to learn more about master’s programmes.

New education to promote safe meeting places for young people
On 17 January, a tailor-made contract education started at the School of Education and Communication (HLK) at Jönköping University for professional youth workers in Jönköping County. The course is one of the first of its kind in Sweden and aims to equip youth workers with tools that can help them create the safest possible meeting places for young people.

Mian Lodalen and José Lobo New Honorary Doctors
Mian Lodalen, author and journalist, and Associate Clinical Professor José Lobo have been appointed honorary doctors at Jönköping University by President Agneta Marell. The conferment ceremony will take place on 4 May at Jönköping University's Academic Ceremony.

Swedish government has appointed a new Board member to the Jönköping University Foundation
Johan Simonsson has recently joined the board of the Jönköping University Foundation. He has a PhD from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and brings experience from the business community and collaboration between university and industry. The term of office for the new board member runs from 1 December 2023 to 30 April 2025.

JU student honoured by Queen Silvia
The winner of the 2023 Queen Silvia Nursing Award (QSNA) is Stefan Krantz, who recently graduated from the School of Health and Welfare at Jönköping University (JU). He won the award thanks to his idea of producing a customized trauma bag for emergency situations relating to people with dementia. The bag can be used by healthcare professionals before emergency services arrive.

On Friday 19 January, students who have studied nursing, social work, and specialist nursing at the School of Health and Welfare (HHJ) and pre-school teachers and supplementary pedagogical training at the School of Education and Communication (HLK) at Jönköping University were examined. World unique development centre planned in Jönköping
RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden) has written a letter of intent together with Volvo Cars, the Volvo Group, and Scania for the planning of a new development centre for sustainable casting in Jönköping.“Together with other partners, this will further strengthen our competences in this high-tech area,” says Ingrid Wadskog, Dean at the School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU).

HLK doctoral student to be special investigator for government inquiry
In Sweden, many pupils leave primary school without grades. How can schools be given better conditions to enable extra support to be put in place earlier than is currently the case? The government has established an inquiry to answer this question and it is Pontus Bäckström, PhD student at the School of Education and Communication (HLK) at Jönköping University (JU), who will lead the inquiry.

470 new students at Jönköping University
On 15 January, approximately 470 new students started their education at Jönköping University (JU).“I work in the emergency room at Ryhov County Hospital in Jönköping and meet many students who study at JU and they like this education very much,” says Lisa Börjesson Larsson from Habo, who will study the Nursing programme at the School of Health and Welfare, JU.

Jönköping University is Sweden's first heart-friendly university
Over the past two years, Jönköping University (JU) has actively worked to install accessible defibrillators and now has 18 on campus. This means that Hjärtuppropet appoints JU as Sweden's first heart-friendly university. Stefan Jutterdal and Thomas Ravelli, both representatives from Hjärtuppropet , spoke at the opening ceremony.
