Erasmus+ scholarship for traineeship from March 2026
IMPORTANT!
(From 05/03/2026 the process for Erasmus+ traineeship for students has been updated. The previous manual procedure has now been fully replaced by a digital workflow in Mobility Online (MOA).
Students that received the confirmation of application email for traineeship before 05/03/2026 should continue with the manual process.
However, students that received the confirmation of application email for their traineeship from 05/03/2026 and on, will follow the new process in Mobility Online (MOA) by using the application link to the right (on this page) and the new process below.)
Students who will carry out a traineeship/internship/industrial placement at a company, organisation or research and education center in one of the Erasmus+ countries can apply for an Erasmus+ traineeship grant. You can also apply for the grant if you are planning to write your degree essay at a company in another European country.
The grant should be a contribution to the expenses arising in connection with the traineeship period, such as travel and accommodation expenses.
Requirements
Students are eligible for the scholarship as long as they meet the following requirements:
- The traineeship period must be minimum 60 days and maximum 360 days per study cycle (Bs or Ms).
- Students are expected to work full-time.
- Students need to live in the host country during the traineeship period.
- Students are expected to work at the company/organization premises (online traineeships are not allowed).
- Student complete the traineeship application at least 1 month before the start of the traineeship.
- Student needs to complete and submit all mandatory documents including Grant Agreement, Learning Agreement, Traineeship Certificate and EU Survey.
- Please note! It is not possible to apply for the Erasmus+ scholarship for traineeships in Sweden.
Who can apply?
Students who are registered at Jönköping University and registered on a course or a programme, where traineeship is part of the course.
How to apply?
- Find a company/organization where you can do your traineeship.
- Make sure the traineeship is approved by your course coordinator/tutor/supervisor at your faculty.
- Click on the link to the right and fill in the online application.
- Submit the application in the workflow in Mobility Online.
- After you have submitted your application you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
You should submit your application a minimum of 1 month before the start date of the traineeship to ensure the first scholarship payment before the starting date.
***Please bear in mind that due to the summer break, applications will not be processed during July.***
We are applying a "first come first served" approach. Scholarships are granted as long as funding is available.
Participating countries
- Members of the European Union
- North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey and Serbia
- UK and Switzerland are not included
Calculation of the scholarship
- Based on the length of your exchange period (number of days)
- Based on the receiving country
- Travel allowance depending on the distance to the company/organisation
- Current scholarship amount is between 660 - 710 EUR per month (depending on country)
Extra funding and top-ups
- Green Travel allowance for travels by bus, train or carpooling
- 250€/month for students with pedagogical support for functional diversity and disabilities, and students with children
Payments
The scholarship is divided into two instalments:
1. payment: 70% of the entire scholarship at the beginning of the exchange
2. payment: 30% of the entire scholarship after the exchange
Mandatory documents
Grant Agreement (GA):
- An agreement between the student and Jönköping University
- A binding contract
- Signed by the student and the Erasmus coordinator (International Office) at JU
Learning Agreement (LA):
- An agreement between the student, JU and the company/organization regarding the traineeship
- The document contains the tasks, learning outcomes and monitoring/evaluation plan
- Signed by the student, the teacher responsible for internships at JU and the contact person at the company/organization
Traineeship Certificate (TC):
- The Certificates contains the traineeship period, working hours, acquired skills and competences among others
- Signed by the contact person at the company/organization at the end of the traineeship, including actual start and end date
EU survey
- A participant report sent by the European Commission to the student's JU email after the traineeship

Before the mobility
Mandatory documentation
To receive the first payment, you must sign and submit a Grant Agreement and a Learning Agreement.
Grant Agreement (GA)
- Once the scholarship has been approved, enter your bank details in your MOA workflow.
- Download your GA in MOA.
- Read through it carefully as it is a binding contract.
- Sign your GA in your MOA workflow.
- The International Office at JU will review your signature and sign the document as well.
- Once it's signed by the International Office you can view/download it.

Important to know
- The scholarship amount stated in your GA is a preliminary funding amount.
- Should your start and end date of traineeship change, the scholarship will be re-calculated according to the dates on your Traineeship Certificate (document to submit after the traineeship).
Learning Agreement (LA)
- Once the scholarship has been approved you will be able to download your LA.
- Download your LA in MOA.
- Read through it carefully and make sure everything is correct.
- Sign the LA in your MOA workflow.
- After you sign it, it will automatically be sent to your traineeship coordinator at JU and once it is signed there, it is automatically sent to the traineeship organization.
- You can follow the approval status in your MOA workflow.
- You can save a PDF version of the LA by clicking on the printer button in the top right corner of the LA.
After the mobility
Mandatory documentation
To receive the second and final payment, you must submit the Traineeship Certificate in MOA and submit the EU survey. Both need to be submitted asap after the traineeship (at most within 1 month after the traineeship ends) otherwise, you will be asked to refund the entire scholarship.
Traineeship Certificate (TC)
- Upload your TC in MOA.
- TC must state the first and last date of your physical participation in the traineeship.
- This document needs to be signed by the traineeship organization not earlier than 5 days before departure.
EU survey (participant report)
- The survey from the EU commission will be sent to your JU mail (check your junk mail).
- It will be sent to you on your final date of stay.
Green Travel
- If you indicated Green Travel in your application, you need to confirm this in your MOA workflow.
- Upload your travel receipts/tickets in MOA.
- If you travelled via carpooling (2 or more persons in a car), you need to upload a Declaration of Honour.
- You can also apply for Green Travel after your traineeship if you have not done it on your application.
Reimbursement of the scholarship
All scholarships are re-calculated after the traineeship period according to the dates on your TC.
You might be asked to (partially) pay back the scholarship if:
- Your new scholarship amount (after re-calculation) is less than what you received in your first payment. Then you will be asked the reimburse the difference.
- You cancel your traineeship. You need to reimburse the scholarship amount already received.
- You don´t upload your TC in due time after the traineeship.
- You don´t fill in the EU survey.
Insurances
Student-OUT insurance
JU students that are abroad for traineeship/industrial placement at a company/organization are covered by Kammarkollegiets "Student-OUT" insurance. It's the student's responsibility to read the insurance terms and conditions and, if found necessary, get a complementary insurance.
European Health Insurance (Card)
In the case of intra-EU mobility, the student's national health insurance will include a basic coverage during their stay in another EU country, through the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) and Försäkringskassan.
Liability insurance
JU students that are abroad for traineeship/industrial placement at a company/organization are covered by a liability insurance.
The liability insurance includes damage or loss caused by the student during the time when the student resides at a work site, as part of ongoing training.
Once a damage has occurred it should be reported as soon as possible to the school. The insurance covers damage or loss to up to 10 million SEK.

Apply for the Green Travel in the Erasmus application. After your exchange, you will be asked to upload your travel receipt/ticket in your MOA workflow.
