Yuan made the move from Shanghai to Gränna. He had previously visited Sweden on a high school exchange programme and vowed to return as a university student.

However, he did not have the English proficiency to secure direct entry onto his chosen programme. After a successful semester on Pathway, he moved to Jönköping and began studying International Management at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS).

Aside from his studies Yuan was determined to integrate fully into Swedish life. He chose to live in a student house-share with Swedish students and continued to study Swedish.

He was very active in the Business School’s student association – JSA. In April 2017 he became an elected board member and undertook the role of Head of Marketing.

Yuan is currently completing the last part of his bachelor programme and has just started his own company together with another JIBS student. Their online platform offers marketing and promotional support to Scandinavian designers who would like to expand their brands in Asia.
