Service interruption for JU Play on 9-11 May

A major upgrade of JU play will be performed, which means that the service will not be available from the evening of Friday, 9 May through Sunday, 11 May.

A major upgrade of our Play service will be carried out during the weekend of 9-11 May 2025. The upgrade is part of the technical modernization of the platform and includes the replacement of the underlying infrastructure and the introduction of a new version.

What does this mean for you as a user?

During the upgrade window, the system will be largely unavailable, affecting both access to video material and the ability to upload or record new content. This applies to all users - students, teachers and administrative staff alike.
We expect the service to be unavailable for the entire period, from the evening of Friday, 9 May through Sunday, 11 May.

What should you do?

  • Avoid planning for recording or editing video in JU Play during this time.
  • If you need to watch a video lecture or other material by Monday morning, please do this in advance before Friday afternoon, as the system will not be available.
  • If you have video content to put in JU Play, make sure it is uploaded before the upgrade window - or plan to upload it afterwards.
  • Inform your students in an announcement on your courses in Canvas where video is embedded/linked from JU Play.

When will JU Play be available again?

The service is expected to be available again from Monday, 12 May, when the upgrade should be completed and the system validated.
