Addis Ababa University, College of Business and Economics (AAU-CBE)

Since 2011, JIBS is contributing to the doctoral program in Economics at Addis Ababa University. In the Fall of 2013, AAU launched its own doctoral program in Management with the support of JIBS. In this semi-sandwhich model, the PhD students are admitted at AAU, but have their main supervisors from JIBS. The PhD students and their deputy supervisors from AAU travel to Sweden for longer or shorter periods of stays for supervision, for doctoral courses and to be part of the research culture at JIBS. Out of around 55 PhD students enrolled in the two programs, 11 PhD students in Economics and 3 PhD students in Management have since graduated at AAU.

College of Business and Economics, University of Rwanda (CBE-UR)

The doctoral collaboration with University of Rwanda (UR) follows the sandwich model, where the PhD students are admitted to a doctoral program at JIBS with the main supervisor from JIBS and the deputy supervisor from UR. In 2014 and 2017 a total of eight PhD students were admitted, four in Economics and four in Business Administration. Currently, five PhD students have graduated from the program.

During 2020 CBE-UR is launching its own PhD program in XXXX. This effort is facilitated by JIBS faculty in terms of providing support in structuring the doctoral program, in supervision and in teaching capacity.
