EduCom is the School of Education and Communication's research profile, which describes how we approach research and working methods in teaching. The profile is inspired by the research field of educommunication. Some of the researchers at HLK made a knowledge review to learn more.

Lilly Augustine and Helena Taubner, on educommunication

HLK researchers Helena Taubner, Pia Andersson and Renira Gambarato have, by studying 50 international scientific articles, laid a knowledge overview of how others define and use the concept of educommunication, which is also the research field itself.

"The word educommunication itself consists of the words education and communication. And in all pedagogy, communication is used, and in all communication, pedagogy is used. But we saw that the concepts of pedagogy and communication together create a new view of knowledge," says Helena Taubner.

The concepts of pedagogy and communication thus become something more together than they are separately.

The goal is sustainability, equity and change

Inspired by the larger research picture and history, and through an interdisciplinary approach, the HLK will jointly make sense of definitions that are relevant in our context. We are well on our way. Interdisciplinarity will be key to achieving the ultimate goals of sustainability, equity and change.

"In HLK we are already doing educommunication, but we can work even more together to find EduCom in practical educational everyday life", she says.
