Restart A Heart-Day 2020 – defibrillators on campus

16 October is international “Restart A Heart-Day”, an event created to increase public knowledge of CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

How well prepared are you to take action if you see someone having a cardiac arrest or in case of any kind of emergency situation? There are a few easy things that you can do to get yourself ready to act and possibly save a life.

Defibrillators on Campus

These devices do save lives, so make sure you know where to find them and how to use them. On Campus, you find them in the entrances of the School of Health and Welfare, the School of Education and Communication, the School of Engineering, Jönköping International Business School, Campus Arena, University Library, Nordic Wellness, the caretaker’s office and House K.

In these locations defibrillators can be found on campus.

Info about CPR in corona times from the Swedish CPR Council (Svenska HLR-rådet)

The Swedish CPR Council monitors the development of covid-19 in Sweden and its impact on society and has produced recommendations for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in society and in healthcare, as well as for education in case of suspected or confirmed infection of covid-19.

The CPR Council is aware of the risks of spreading Corona infection but would like to point out the absolute necessity of performing CPR on a person suffering from cardiac arrest. It is therefore important that the current situation does not prevent or delay the start of CPR.

Learn CPR/ refresh your skills

It is great if you can take a course to practice your skills, however, there is a lot of excellent information to find online. Have a look at https://www.hlr.nu/utbildningsfilmer/ External link, opens in new window. (Currently only in Swedish)

Know how to call the emergency services – download the app “SOS Alarm 112”

In case of emergencies on Campus, immediately call SOS Alarm by dialing 112 and follow their instructions. In the normal procedure, the emergency services will arrive at the entrance of the school where the person in need is situated, or another location you have agreed upon. Make sure someone is there to meet them.

You can also make an emergency call by using the app SOS Alarm 112. GPS coordinates will then be sent automatically which is helpful if you don’t know the address.
