Registration in the Swedish Population Register

When living in Sweden, it is important that you can provide proof of your identity. The duration of your stay in Sweden determines if you will receive a personal identity number or a co-ordination number.

To live in Sweden, you must be able to identify yourself, either through a personal identity number or a co-ordination number. If you receive a personal identity number, you can also apply for an ID card. More comprehensive information can be found here:
