Upon completion of the course students should have the ability to:

• describe and critically analyze theories and methods in evidence-based practice
• define knowledge translation and discuss its relationship to evidence-based practice.

• independently acquire evidence-based knowledge within an area of research relevant to prosthetics and orthotics
• appraise, using standardized tools, current research within a specific area related to prosthetics and orthotics research
• formulate a research plan which addresses a clearly defined research aim.

• demonstrate an appreciation for research ethics
• identify their own need for continued knowledge and to develop their skills.

- identifying clinical questions
- appraising evidence
- literature reviews, what they are and what they are not
- knowledge translation
- theories/models for the implementation of evidence-based practice in healthcare
- current research in prosthetics and orthotics and related fields
- how to write a project plan

The course is implemented with classroom lectures, online lectures, and group tutorials.

Undervisningen bedrivs på engelska.

General entry requirements and completed courses with 60 credits within the subject of Prosthetics and Orthotics.

Kursen bedöms med betygen A, B, C, D, E, FX eller F.

Examination will be based upon an individual written examination, including a research project proposal and clinical implications document.

A university lecturer will serve as examiner for this course.
