Lärandemål

Upon completion of the course, the student should have the ability to:

Kunskap och förståelse

  • critically review and analyse recent research within occupational therapy.

Färdighet och förmåga

  • analyse and integrate theoretical and empirical knowledge within occupational therapy
  • analyse and discuss applicability of science within occupational therapy
  • argue for how ethical principles affect research processes within occupational therapy
  • initiate and independently lead scientific projects within occupational therapy
  • present results of scientific work and argue for their validity, orally and in writing.

Värderingsförmåga och förhållningssätt

  • reflect on own ability, limitations, and opportunities to communicate research to culturally diverse and international audiences
  • critically review and evaluate own achievements and learning, and identify what professional competences one needs to further develop for research and practice.

- quantitative methods, qualitative methods and literature reviews
- ethical principles of research
- defense and opposition of a thesis

Undervisningsformer

The course is given as a web-based course. The course involves independent work under supervision and participation in discussions and seminars using a web-based platform.

Förkunskapskrav

General entry requirements and completed courses on advanced level within Theory of Science and Scientific Method, 15 credits and 30 credits within Occupational Therapy (or the equivalent). Passed the course Occupational therapy, thesis I, 15 credits.

Examination och betyg

Kursen bedöms med betygen A, B, C, D, E, FX eller F.

The course is examined through a written thesis plan, which includes discussion of ethical issues and participation in a seminar; a manuscript in the form of a scientific article; oral presentation and defense of the same manuscript; oral and written opposition of a fellow student’s manuscript; and a reflective portfolio.

An associate professor serves as examiner for the course.
