Bakgrund:

Läkare och specialist inom klinisk fysiologi och nuklearmedicin. Tjänstgör i Region Jönköpings län sedan 1994. Verksamhetschef vid Klinisk Fysiologi 1995-2013. Chefläkare 2013-2021. 

Forskning:

Disputerade vid Linköpings universitet 1995 med en avhandlingen “Echocardiographic Methods for Assessment of Coronary artery disease”. Bedriver sedan dess translationell, klinisk forskning utgående från kardiovaskulär funktion och hälsa. Forskningsområdet och spetskompetens inom klinisk fysiologi riktad mot diagnostiska metoder, företrädelsevis ultraljudsundersökningar av hjärta och kärl men även nuklearmedicinska metoder, hjärt-MR och lungfysiologiska undersökningar med syreupptagsmätning, impulse-oscillometrisk analys och spirometri.

Bedriver forskningsprojekt som värderar hjärtfunktionen i vila och  under arbete. Infört nya metoder för diagnostik av kransärlssjukdom. Studerar hur träning men även övervikt och diabetes påverkar kardiovaskulära funktionen och hälsan. Hur träning på elitnivå gör att hjärtat anpassar sig i storlek och funktion så att man kan tala om athlethjärta även hos barn och ungdomar. Även studerat hur träning kan förbättra kognitiva funktioner och lärande samt forskat kring rökningens skadliga effekter på lungfunktionen.
