Florencia Enghel är docent i medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap och en internationellt erkänd expert inom området kommunikation för utveckling och social förändring. Hennes forskning har också fokuserat på latinamerikanska kommunikationsteoriers och -praktikers bidrag till den globala kunskapsmassan. År 2019 tilldelades hon ett Marie Curie Global Fellowship-stipendium av Europeiska kommissionen för att bedriva innovativ forskning om de mikroteknopolitiska aspekterna av medborgerligt engagemang. Hennes nuvarande forskningsprojekt, som pågår mellan 2020 och 2023, undersökte kvinnors jämställdhets- och demokratifrämjande kommunikativa praktiker i det dagliga livet i Argentina. År 2024 vann hon ett RJ Sabbatical-bidrag för att utveckla ett bokprojekt om sin Marie Curie-finansierade forskning. Från 2015 till 2023 var hon ledamot i Clearinghouse for Public Statements vid International Association for Media and Communication Research.
