I research patient participation, health literacy, and the use of digital tools to help patients feel prepared, confident, and actively involved in their care. My focus is on cancer treatment and how information can be tailored to meet individual needs and strengthen patients’ self-efficacy before treatment.

I am a Lecturer in Nursing at Jönköping University and a member of the research environment Studies on Integrated Health and Welfare (SIHW). In autumn 2025, I defended my PhD thesis, Caring in a Digital Age: A Co-designed Digital Tool to Support Health Literacy and Reduce Distress During Radiotherapy for Breast Cancer.

The study is among the first in Sweden to combine digital support, health information, and person-centred care using a mixed-methods design. Findings indicate that co-designed digital tools can reduce stress and enhance patients’ sense of control and understanding, particularly when developed in collaboration with patients and healthcare professionals.

I am passionate about improving patient experiences and advancing person-centred, integrated care, where digital solutions are meaningful and value-creating.

Fun fact: I have clinical experience as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the UK, as well as teaching and supervising at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Sweden.
