I am a Senior Lecturer in Media and Communication and the Program Director of International Communication (Sustainable Communication from the Autumn semester of 2019).

I teach both on the undergraduate and master’s level, in different courses.

My research is centered on Critical Media Theory and more specifically on the relationship between the media discourse and hegemonic power. In my current research, I study how Swedish journalism constructs the ongoing international renegotiation of cannabis, with the overall aim of contributing to the understanding of the workings of journalism vis-à-vis hegemonic values that are in crisis. I have also written about the limits of reification and othering in the media discourse about inequality. In my dissertation project, which was undertaken at Örebro University, I studied the media discourse about Venezuela under the presidency of Hugo Chávez as a case to understand the relationship between ideology in the media and the construction of discourses on democracy. Before doing my PhD, I worked in different survey-centered research projects about sports and the media, elite sports and regional development and Swedish e-government.
