Ontology Engineering has been one of Vladimir Tarasov's main research interests during the last years. Semantic technologies based on the use of ontologies can be utilized for processing of information on the level of content meaning. This approach can significantly contribute to solving of different tasks in organizations such as improving of information flow or competence supply. Exploring and developing new concepts and innovative approaches for adding a semantic layer on top of available IT-systems are in the centre of ontology engineering research. Ontology engineering methods can serve as a basis for development of semantic-enabled middleware and semantic-enabled data management systems for enterprises.
Vladimir Tarasov, born 1966 in Russia, is Assistant Professor in Information Engineering at the School of Engineering, Jönköping University. He received M.Sc. in Mathematics from Petrozavodsk State University (Russia) in 1990. In 1991-1993 he did Ph.D. studies in St. Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Petrozavodsk State University (Russia) in 1996.
