In his PhD research, Aronson focuses on the friendships of
adolescents of foreign origin. The intention is to investigate when adolescents of foreign origin form friendships and what the characteristics and implications of the friendships are. Aronson employs multiple complementary theoretical perspectives, including social exchange theory, interpersonal communication theories, and an intersectional approach. The PhD project makes use of quantitative methods, such as structural equation modelling and network analysis, as well as qualitative methods, such as thematic synthesis.
