Research

A goal of my present research work is to investigate the relationship between microstructure and the mechanical properties of cast iron material. The aim is to develop cast iron material for ex. environmentally friendly truck engines or wind power components. The research is conducted in close cooperation with both Swedish and international industry.

Apart from above mentioned research activities, the measurements and modeling of thermophysical properties such as surface tension, viscosity, density, thermal conductivity/diffusivity, specific heat capacity, etc., at elevated temperature are my strong side.

Teaching

Taishi Matsushita has been examiner and lecturer in several courses in Bachelor, Master and Doctorate Education at KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. He has been teaching courses in Materials science, High temperature process, Transport phenomena, Experimental methods, etc. Taishi Matsushita has been supervisor and co-supervisor of graduated students thesis in the area of Materials process science.

Biography

Taishi Matsushita is an Associate Professor at the Department of Materials and Manufacturing, School of Engineering, Jönköping University.

He has a Master of Material Science (2000) and PhD in Material Science (2003) from Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. He was a research associate at Kyushu Institute of Technology from April to September, 2003.

In October, 2003 he got a position as a postdoc at KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. He worked at German Aerospace Center (DLR), Cologne, Germany as a visiting scientist from February to April, 2005. In 2008 he was given the title Docent (Associate professor (US) / reader (UK)) from KTH. In 2012 he got a position in Materials and Manufacturing at Jönköping University, School of Engineering.
