Upon completion of the course, the student should have the ability to:

- identify challenges and common pitfalls in academic writing and publishing.

- analyse linguistic and formal features considered typical of the student's field of research
- write scientific texts according to the requirements of research fields.

The course aims at helping doctoral candidates to develop their academic literacy skills and knowledge regarding:

- structure of scientific articles
- synthesising arguments

Individual assignments, group discussions, lectures and seminars.
Undervisningen bedrivs på engelska.
Förkunskapskrav
To be enrolled in the course the student should have 240 credits, 60 of which should be at the advanced level, including a thesis of 15 credits (or the equivalent)

Kursen bedöms med betygen Underkänd eller Godkänd.
The course examination is comprised of individually written assignments, group-discussions, peer-reviewing and seminars. The course examiner is an associate professor or professor.

The course coordinator collates and comments on the evaluation before submitting it to the Board of Research Education at the Research School of Health and Welfare at School of Health and Welfare.
