Lärandemål

Upon completion of the course, the student should have the ability to:

Kunskap och förståelse

• demonstrate in-depth knowledge understanding of the use of methods and statistics in a scientific context
• demonstrate proficiency with the appropriateness of statistical procedures in their own work and that of others.

Färdighet och förmåga

• structure data material in an appropriate way for the chosen statistical processing
• critically and with scientific accuracy perform certain statistical procedures and interpret the results
• carry out an in-depth analysis of the advantages and limitations of statistical procedures.

Värderingsförmåga och förhållningssätt

• maintain a critical approach in the assessment of statistical results.
• assess aspects of validity and reliability in quantitative research.

Innehåll

- The course covers statistical analyses, such as multiple linear regression, log-linear regression, reliability analysis, and certain aspects of factor analysis applied in practice in the SPSS environment.

Undervisningsformer

The course is comprised of lectures, computer labs, and seminars. The course is given every third semester, every other time on campus and every other time online.

Förkunskapskrav

To be enrolled in the course, the student should have 240 credits, 60 of which should be at the advanced level, including a thesis of 15 credits or equivalent and completed course in Statistical method I or equivalent

Examination och betyg

Kursen bedöms med betygen Underkänd eller Godkänd.

The course examination is comprised of an individually written paper and seminars. The course examiner is an associate professor or professor.

Kursvärdering

The course coordinator collates and comments on the evaluation before submitting it to the Board of Research Education at the Research School of Health and Welfare at School of Health and Welfare

Course is given on a part-time basis unless otherwise stated.
Selection for admission:
1. Students registered in the Research School of Health and Welfare
2. Students registered in research education at Jönköping University and other partner universities
3. Students registered in research education at another university
4. Other applicants: admission based on the number of credits (the applicants will be selected randomly in the case of equal merits).
