Lärandemål

The student shall meet the following learning outcomes, which cover knowledge and understanding, skills and abilities as well as judgement and approach. On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

- demonstrate understanding for a structured and systematic approach to the literature searching process
- demonstrate understanding for the landscape of scholarly publishing

Färdighet och förmåga

- demonstrate ability to define an information need and to formulate an adequate search strategy for a chosen research question
- demonstrate skills to effectively search publications in chosen databases from a self­formulated search strategy

Värderingsförmåga och förhållningssätt

- demonstrate ability to make a relevant selection among retrieved publications based on established criteria
- demonstrate ability to select one or several journals for their own publication and motivate the choice on the basis of the selection criteria treated in the course and be able to evaluate them by using appropriate indicators
- demonstrate skills to formulate an appropriate publication strategy.

Undervisningsformer

The teaching consists of lectures, workshops and exercises.

Förkunskapskrav

The applicant must be admitted to the third-cycle programme at The School of Education and Communication.

Examination och betyg

Kursen bedöms med betygen Underkänd eller Godkänd.

The examination is based on written assignments and active participation during assignment seminars.

Kursvärdering

The instruction is followed up throughout the course, and a course evaluation is performed at the end of the course. The course coordinator collates and comments on the evaluation before submitting it to the associate dean of doctoral programmes at the School of Education and Communication. The evaluation is to function as a basis for future improvements to the course.
