Lärandemål

Upon completion of the course, the student should have the ability to:

Kunskap och förståelse

  • identify and discuss cultural aspects and concepts related to oral health in a life cycle approach
  • identify and analyse the impact of general diseases/disabilities related to oral health from a cultural perspective
  • describe the impact and complexity of social determinants of oral health in different countries
  • describe socio-economic factors and their influence on oral health
  • discuss different perspectives on oral health in community development.

  • consider contextual factors and appropriate methods when working in diverse oral health contexts
  • explore resources and strategies for promoting oral health care in diverse cultural and international contexts
  • collaborate with persons within oral health care systems.

  • identify and value own professional culture of oral health care
  • understand the different cultural factors of oral health care interventions
  • develop a culture sensitive approach in oral health care and incorporate cultural competence
  • understand and reflect on sustainable strategies for an equal oral health.

- identifying, assessing and critically reviewing relevent publications
- welfare factors, determinants and consequences of disability/disease related to oral health
- diverse health and social perspectives and interventions related to oral health
- strategies for promoting oral health in diverse contexts
- social determinants of oral health and the relevance of different perspectives
- cultural competence and cultural sensitive oral health approaches

The course is conducted in the form of individual studies, lectures, group work and seminars.

Förkunskapskrav

General entry requirements and passed courses of 120 credits in the major subject in oral health.

Examination och betyg

Kursen bedöms med betygen A, B, C, D, E, FX eller F.

Examination will be based upon an written literature review which will also be reported verbally, a written reflection and seminars.

The course is examined by an university lecturer.
