Forskningen avser utveckling, drift och ledning av system för produktion och distribution i tillverkande företag. Inom miljön bedrivs industrinära och tillämpbar forskning.

Inom forskningsmiljön industriell produktion bedrivs forskning rörande utveckling och drift av industriella produktionssystem där en viktig aspekt är produktionsplanering och produktionsstyrning.

Öka konkurrenskraft och värdeskapande

Målet för forskning inom forskningsmiljön är att bidra till utvecklingen av kunskap och kompetens som ökar industrins nationella och internationella konkurrenskraft och värdeskapande förmåga. Forskningen bidrar till ökad kunskap om hur industriell produktion genomförs kundorienterat, kunskapsbaserat, kreativt och resurseffektivt.

Konkurrenskraftig industriell produktion kräver utveckling och samverkan mellan en mängd delområden på ett sätt som stödjer företagets övergripande strategier. För att ett produktionssystem ska bli effektivt måste samtliga ingående delar beaktas. Därför har systemperspektivet valts som forskningsansats, vilket inkluderar såväl teknik som människor och organisation.

Samverkan

Samverkan sker genom flera olika projekt, bland annat genom Produktionslyftet,PIEp och ProViking forskarskola.
