Programmet Production engineering and automation är omarbetat och i det nya programmet såväl som i föregående program är hållbarhet ett centralt område.

 Programmet har tre fokusområden varav ett är hållbarhet:

Sustainable production: Central to the programme is the commitment to sustainable production. This principle ensures that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to develop and manage sustainable production systems. Sustainable production here refers to the design and operation of production systems that use resources efficiently while minimizing waste, emissions, and environmental impact. It integrates areas such as circularity, energy efficiency, and lean production, ensuring that industrial value creation supports long-term economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Hållbarhet är tydligt framskrivet som ett av examensmålen i utbildningsplanen. Efter utbildningen ska studenten

  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how to integrate circularity and sustainability into product realization.

Temat hållbarhet introduceras i den första kursen i programmet för att sedan följas upp i en kurs med fokus specifikt på hållbar produktion, Circular production system, 7,5 hp.

Kompetensen som beskrivs i examensmålet om hållbarhet examineras både genom tentamen och praktiska uppgifter.
