ISBSB Results 2020

During January-February 2021, a large student survey was conducted at Jönköping University (JU). The results from the survey are now available. Thank you to all of you who contributed!

Since 2013, Jönköping University has carried out the ISBSB (the International Student Barometer (ISB) and the National Student Barometer (SB)) seven times. Here are some of the results from this year’s survey.

Easy to make friends

Among the international students at JU, 92 % feel satisfied with student life, which can be compared with 86 %, which is the European average in the survey. The international students also state that it is easier (compared to other EU countries) to find friends both from their own country, from Sweden and from other countries.

JU’s international students give the student social context, such as student life, fellow students and association life, very good marks. In many aspects, JU’s results in this category are among the highest in Europe.

Top rating for the library

The library continues to receive consistently high scores among the international students, with a satisfaction rate of 96 % for the online library and 97 % for the physical library. The satisfaction rate for JU’s library is ranked highest by all universities in the survey, both by national and international students.

Continued improvement work

An important aspect of conducting the survey is to be able to highlight both areas that work well and areas that need improvement. The teaching at JU continues to receive higher and higher scores in the survey, both in terms of “good teachers”, “expert lecturers” and “quality of lectures”. Despite this, international students at other universities in the survey rank the teaching there higher.

“Teaching is a fundamental part of our activities and something we are constantly working to improve, both with the help of the results from ISBSB and other course and programme evaluations,” says Robert Gunnarsson, Vice President for Education at JU. He continues:

“I would like to extend a big Thank You to each student who took the time to fill out the survey. Your opinions matter, and your answers will help us improve things for both current and future students at JU.”
