Delegation from Rwanda visited JIBS
On Thursday 22 March a delegation from the National University of Rwanda (NUR) visited Jönköping International Business School (JIBS). The delegation consisted of NUR’s Rector Professor Silas Lwakabamba as well as research and program representatives.
The purpose of the visit was primarily to look into to the possibilities of collaboration on research education between NUR and JIBS. The visit takes place at Sida's (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) initiative, within the framework of international development cooperation.
During the visit the delegation met with representatives from JIBS, among others JIBS’s Dean and Managing Director, Professor Johan Roos and Associate Dean for Doctoral Programs Mattias Nordqvist as well as representatives from JIBS’s research departments. The group was also given a tour of the library by Daniel Gunnarsson, contact librarian for JIBS.
Participants in the delegation were Professor Silas Lwakabamba (NUR, Rector), Professor Verdiana Masanja (NUR, Director Research Commission), Mr Raymond Ndikumana (NUR, Program Coordinator), and Dr Bengt Ove Turesson (LiU, Program Coordinator, Sweden).
The National University of Rwanda (NUR) is the oldest and largest university in Rwanda. It was founded in 1963 and currently it is comprised of 7 faculties, 2 schools, 9 academic and research centres and 3 academic and research Directorates. Currently, in January 2012 NUR has 10,966 students of which 10 are PhD candidates, 9 MPhil students, and 1060 masters’ students. NUR offers a diverse course of study in various fields ranging from liberal arts and humanities to pure and applied sciences.
