Summer school for doctoral students
MMTC at JIBS is hosting an international doctoral summer school from 11 -15 August.
European Media Management Association (emma) Doctoral Summer School is a biannual event that provides doctoral students a unique opportunity to learn from experienced researchers in the field of media management and receive individual feedback on their research. Right now, PhD students from New Zealand, USA, UK and Germany have gathered in Jönköping to participate.
Over the past several years, media management has emerged as an academic field that is generating increasing scholarly interest. But because many scholars studying media lack any background in management studies, there is an understandable gap in knowledge about management theories and their applicability to the media context. The emma Summer School will help PhD students grow a necessary understanding of major management theories applicable to media management research.
The 2014 emma doctoral summer school will discuss recent developments, survey important management theories, review how these theories have been applied for studying media industries, identify gaps in theory and application that merit empirical research, and discuss possibilities and limitations of using these theories for different types of research questions.
