Arne Gerdner, a professor of social work at Jönköping University School of Health and Welfare, has been appointed to serve on one of the two scientific councils that support the Swedish Agency for Health Tecnology Assesment and Assesment of Social Services.
SBU is an independent national authority, tasked by the government with assessing health care interventions from a broad perspective, covering medical, economic, ethical and social aspects.
1 July 2015 was SBU was given an expanded mission. The agency will also follow developments in the social field, such as social services and social care. The scientific councis have therefore been strengthened by two professors of social work: Per-Gunnar Edebalk from Lund University, and Arne Gerdner from Jönköping University.
