Upon completion of the course students should have the ability to:

• explain perspectives of health and determinants of health from individual, group, and societal perspectives at national and global levels
• explain basic concepts and definitions in health economics
• describe the impact of environment and lifestyle on health, from a life course perspective.

• argue how environmental resources, obstacles and risks impact human health
• apply theories and concepts relevant to health-promotion in nursing
• relate national goals of public health to global sustainable development goals
• apply basic epidemiological concepts.

• reflect on how individual and societal attitudes, values and approaches affect prospects for health.

The course is implemented through lectures, seminars and study assignments.

Undervisningen bedrivs på engelska.

Grundläggande behörighet samt avslutade kurser inom sjuksköterskeprogrammets termin 1 och 2 eller motsvarande kunskaper. Vidare krävs genomgångna kurser i termin 3 inom sjuksköterskeprogrammet eller motsvarande kunskaper.

Kursen bedöms med betygen A, B, C, D, E, FX eller F.

Examination will be based upon written individual examination, seminars and written assignments.

A university lecturer serves as examiner for the course.
