After a successful course, the student shall

Knowledge and understanding

- display knowledge of projects as a working method including leadership and cooperation
- display knowledge of seminal theories within the area of group-dynamics
- display knowledge of the leader’s influence on group-dynamics
- demonstrate comprehension of how group dynamics influence workgroup performance and the working climate

Skills and abilities

- demonstrate the ability to use relevant project tools and methods within the area of project methodology
- demonstrate the ability to analyse a group process, membership and roles in a group and describe areas to improve effectiveness and results

Judgement and approach

- demonstrate an understanding of the significance of using different concepts and perspectives (gender, social sustainability, culture) in identifying and analysing problems within the area of project management, group-dynamics and leadership.

Contents

The course consists of two equal areas: Group-dynamics and leadership and Project management.
Group-dynamics and leadership:
- Motivation and behaviour styles
- Intercultural communication
- Communication and feedback
- Leadership and co-workers
- Team development
- Group-dynamics
Project-management:
- Project-models
- Project methodology
- Project management
- Project management tools (i.e. stakeholder-analysis, risk-analysis, SWOT-analysis)
- Project-team and collaboration
- Monitoring and controlling

Type of instruction

Lectures, seminars and exercises.

The teaching is conducted in English.

Prerequisites

General entry requirements and Physics 1, Chemistry 1, Matematics 3c or Physics A, Chemistry A, Matematics D and English 6 or English B in the Swedish upper secondary school system (or the equivalent).

Examination and grades

The course is graded 5,4,3 or Fail.
