After completing the course students are expected to

- have a basic knowledge of Swedish grammar, vocabulary and everyday phrases
- have a basic knowledge of Swedish society and culture
Skills and abilities
- have sufficient language skills and general ¨know-how¨ to understand and make themselves understood in situations occuring in daily life in Sweden
- be able to improve their vocabulary and grammer by using adequate strategies
Judgement and approach
- be able to find further information in relevant subject areas and to critically evaluate that information

- Swedish pronunciation and prosody
- Text reading
- Listening comprehension
- Written exercises
- Oral exercises and structured conversation
- Lectures (in English) on Swedish society and culture
Type of instruction
Lessons of Swedish language. Lectures in English held by different experts of the topics. Active participa- tion required.
The teaching is conducted in English.
Prerequisites
General entrance requirements.
Fluency in English equivalent to at least a 575 (paper-based scale) or 90 (internet-based scale) TOEFL
score. IELTS: with an overall band score of 6.5 and no part below 5.5. Competency in Swedish language is not required (or the equivalent).
