Mats Jägstam is Acting President of Jönköping University since 1 April 2017.
Mats Jägstam was Dean and Managing Director at the School of Engineering 2012-2016. In October 2016 he was appointed Vice President of Jönköping University and 1 January 2017 the President's deputy.
Mats Jägstam had a significant part in the work that made The Knowledge Foundation appointing Jönköping University to a Knowledge Foundation Environment (KK-miljö), which will enable the University to build a strong and internationally competitive research profile within Knowledge Intensive Product Realisation.
Mats Jägstam received his PhD in Manufacturing Engineering with the thesis "on Efficient Use and Integration of Discrete Event Simulation in Industry" at DeMontfort University, Leicester, UK, in 2004.
Mats Jägstam has a development-oriented profile towards collaboration with business and internationalisation, as well as experience from academia, business and entrepreneurship. He has been a driving force in the start and development of various collaboration environments and has worked actively to strengthen the dialogue and cooperation between research, education and business and industry.
Previous positions include Vice Pro-Chancellor at the University of Skövde, with special responsibility for external cooperation and internationalisation. Mats Jägstam was also one of the initiators as well as chairman of the Industrial Development Center West Sweden and had an important part in the work when The Knowledge Foundation appointed University of Skövde to a Knowledge Foundation Environment.
Mats Jägstam is a member of the boards of Science Park Jönköping AB, Swerea Swecast AB och Svenskt Aluminium.
