Jönköping University is involved in different international research collaborations. Mirai 2.0 is a high-profile collaboration between Swedish and Japanese universities with a focus on aging, AI, and entrepreneurship. In SASUF Swedish universities have joined forces to collaborate with their counterparts in South Africa.

"Connecting Swedish and Japanese universities through research, education and innovation"

MIRAI 2.0 is a three-year collaboration between 19 Swedish and Japanese universities, aiming to contribute to long-term research collaboration and to promote Sweden and Japan as nations of world-leading large-scale research infrastructure. MIRAI 2.0 (2020-2022) builds on the former MIRAI project (2017-2019) and aims to develop and expand the collaboration activities further.

 

The focus of the MIRAI 2.0 project is on early career researchers, while the main academic topics are:

  • Ageing
  • Materials Science
  • Sustainability
  • AI
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship

 

The academic topics are represented by the Thematic Expert Groups (TEG) and the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Advisory Group (IEAG). Jönköping University is a member of Mirai 2.0 and has representatives in the academic groups TEG Ageing, TEG AI, and is co-chairing the IEAG group.

 

The main activities of MIRAI 2.0 are two research & innovation weeks during the three-year phase. There will also be new possibilities for early career researchers such as seed-funding to support promising collaborative initiatives.

SASUF is a strategic internationalisation project comprising of 38 universities from Sweden and South Africa, with the overall goal of strengthening research, education and innovation ties between the countries . SASUF was launched in 2017 and, since its inception, the collaboration has connected more than 3,000 Swedish and South African researchers, teachers, students and university leaders in workshops and seminars.

Activities in SASUF have led to the initiation of more than 70 collaborative projects with researchers and teachers from both countries addressing challenges linked to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2030.
