About 20 companies at lighting fair

The Swedish Lighting Academy (Belysningsakademin) held its first lighting fair at the School of Engineering (JTH), Jönköping University (JU), On 12 March.

"A unique opportunity for our students to get in touch with interesting companies and for us to showcase our activities," says Myriam Aries, Professor of Lighting Science at JTH.

About 20 companies exhibited at the Lighting Fair in the gallery at JTH and among them were several former students from the Lighting Design and Lighting Technology programme at JTH. Some of them were Erik Egrenius and Elin Sjöqvist Corbeil, who are now lighting designers at Exaktor. They wanted to inspire visitors to start working in the lighting industry and convey to students what it is like to work as a lighting designer.

"It's exciting to be back at JTH and to talk to students. We got a very good network of contacts with companies when we went here," says Elin Sjöqvist.

Lighting design students Linnéa Hårrskog, Annika Josefsson and Moa Johansson found the fair inspiring.
"It is very educational to just walk around and talk to different companies," says Annika Josefsson.

After the fair, lighting designer and JTH alumnus Svante Pettersson, who runs Svante Pettersson Studio, gave an inspirational lecture. He was awarded the Lighting Foundation Merit Award 2024.
