The theme for the IPSERA conference in Jönköping is "Building bridges". 192 people will be attending the conference in person and 66 online.

“In the wake of the Covid 19 crisis, we have experienced the vulnerability of the supply chains. Now, more than ever, we need to overcome hinders and borders and collaborate between countries, companies and functions to strengthen the supply chains, says Jenny Bäckstrand, Associate Professor of Operations and Supply Chain at the School of Engineering, Jönköping University, and host of the conference.

Develop knowledge and improve quality

IPSERA (International Purchasing & Supply Education & Research Association) is an international and multidisciplinary network of researchers and professionals, which aims to develop knowledge and improve quality in purchasing and supply chain management. IPSERA, which has more than 300 members in 30 countries, encourages cross-border and interdisciplinary research between different disciplines in academia, industry and other groups.

Mohammad Eslami, Assistant Professor at JIBS and vice host of the IPSERA conference, sees the conference as a excellent opportunity to learn more about overcoming barriers for supply chains and promoting collaboration between academia and the industry.

The latest research development

In addition to lectures, workshops and exchanging ideas, the conference participants will receive the latest research development in purchasing and supply chain management.

“IPSERA has experts in a number of fields related to purchasing and supply chain management and offers academic exchange and dissemination of new ideas and concepts worldwide,” says Jenny Bäckstrand.

The School of Engineering (JTH) and Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) at Jönköping University share the hosting of the IPSERA conference. The event was also held in Jönköping in 2001 but has so far not been organized anywhere else in Sweden. IPSERA has its annual meeting during the conference and will then elect Jenny Bäckstrand as their new vice president.
