This prestigious award is given to one or more individuals who have made significant contributions to the University and can be awarded once a year. In 2025, the committee that selects the recipients of JU's Badge for Merit has chosen the following recipients: Pia Bülow, Professor of Social Work at the School of Health and Welfare, JU, and former Dekanus/Chair of the Board of Education and Research Education (NUF), and Cenneth Lundkvist, AV Technician, University Services.

The award will be handed out during JU’s Academic Ceremony on 29 November.

In the videos below, Pia comments on how important the work of NUF is for JU, and Cenneth talks about collegiality at the University.

Pia Bülow for her efforts as Chair of the Board of Education and Research Education at JU (NUF) between 2020 and 2024.

As Chair, Pia contributed greatly to the environment at NUF ensuring that it was characterized by constructive discussions and a willingness to learn from each other and work together for the good of the entire University. Pia deserves special praise for her ability to include all members in the Board’s discussions.

Through her leadership, calmness and wise reasoning, Pia stood for stability, never changing her position to suit the prevailing wind. Not least, she commendably led NUF through the first cycle of quality assessments in accordance with JU’s new quality system – a cycle in which the Board initially had to lay down the tracks to some extent while the train was moving, and in which Pia led constructive dialogues with the schools on the implementation and development of the assessments in an exemplary manner.

Cenneth Lundkvist is a wonderfully pleasant norrlänning who found his way to Jönköping and JU in 2016. He is loyal and very well-liked by everyone. As a kind human being with a big heart, he always puts the University, students, and staff first. He sets high standards for himself and always does a good job.

He works as a caretaker/audio and video technician, a role that is often invisible but absolutely crucial to ensure that JU runs smoothly. If there is anyone who lives by the motto “People First”, it is Cenneth. His commitment and consideration make him an invaluable asset to our organization.

Cenneth deserves the Badge for Merit for his outstanding efforts and commitment to JU.
