"I think that less is more"

It's almost time to light the candles and wrap the gifts! We went around campus to find out how students and staff are planning to celebrate Christmas - and what tips they have for a great holiday. Happy Holidays!

Sára and Léna, students

"I will go home to Hungary and spend Christmas with my family. We always get together as a family, including grandparents. I believe in living in the moment and enjoying the time. It's unusual for the whole family to get together, especially now that I've moved abroad. So just enjoy it and make the best of it," says Sára, student.

“I will also go home to my family in Hungary. I'm half-German and my dad's side of the family lives in Germany, but they're coming to Hungary too – so it's nice! The whole family is getting together. I will meet my friends from my home country as well. I think you should enjoy the time and not focus too much on stress and big family discussions, problems and other things,” says Léna, student.

Richard Öhrstam, Property technician

"I will be at home with my immediate family and celebrate Christmas, but also take the opportunity to recharge my batteries. So we don't really have anything special planned, other than cooking some food, being out in the forest, and stuff like that. The kids love the forest! I think that less is more. That you gather loved ones and that it doesn't have to be so grand - but that you really make sure to take care of each other. It can be sitting on a stump with the family out in the woods or watching a cozy Christmas movie. I think that's the best recipe for recovery," says Richard Öhrstam, Property technician.

He Tan, Assistant Professor

"First of all, I'm just going to have some time off, after working hard all year. I'm looking forward to next year, and the new 'journey'. In China, we don't normally have Christmas holidays, we don't have that culture, so I enjoy it more as a vacation and take the opportunity to rest. I don't do any special things during Christmas, but I will probably go home to China when it's Chinese New Year," says He Tan, assistant professor in computer science.

Albin Nelénius, student

"I am going home to my family in Växjö. There I plan to meet family, relatives and some friends. My best Christmas tip is to get started with the Christmas presents quickly! I'm done with mine so now I can relax the last bit," says Albin Nelénius, student.
