Jönköping University partners with Cybercampus Sweden

During the autumn, Jönköping University (JU) became a partner in Cybercampus Sweden, which brings together universities, government agencies, and companies to strengthen Sweden's capabilities in cybersecurity and cyber defense.

"I believe this organization is crucial to Sweden's defense capabilities in the digital world. For JU, the partnership is absolutely essential to being a force in the Swedish cybersecurity arena," says Joakim Kävrestad, Associate Professor of Computer Science and JU's contact person for Cybercampus Sweden.

Cybercampus Sweden currently has 25 partners and members. The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) is responsible for establishing and developing Cybercampus Sweden.

Cybercampus Sweden is a long-term collaboration that aims to gather and develop the country's expertise in cybersecurity.

"It is a solid and strong collaboration to promote research and education in the field. Our goal is to be a leader in the human aspects of cybersecurity, both within Cybercampus Sweden and nationally," says Joakim Kävrestad.

Early partner in Cybercampus Sweden

JU has been involved in developing Cybercampus for several years and last fall it was one of the first universities to become a partner in the organization.

"It is both an acknowledgement and an opportunity to contribute cutting-edge expertise in an area that is of great national importance, which feels completely natural for us," says Joakim Kävrestad.

The partnership gives JU access to resources that are difficult to build up on its own, such as advanced test environments, research infrastructure, and national networks.

Focus on Swedish industry and national capabilities

A central part of Cybercampus Sweden's work is to strengthen Swedish competitiveness and security. In the initial phase, this will be done by establishing a national research school where the partner universities will educate a large number of doctoral students with a focus on cybersecurity and cyber defense.
