Medals for JU-Rowing

Several students from Jönköping University won medals in Svearoddens University Class, which is arranged in connection to the Swedish Championships in indoor rowing.

Several students from Jönköping University Rowing Association (JURA) participated in Svearoddens University Rowing 2016, which is arranged in connection to the Swedish Championships in indoor rowing. The championship took place in Stockholm 20 February 2016, and it was the first time practitioners from JURA participated.

“It is very different to compete indoors on rowing machines compared to on the water. You don’t have to think about balancing the boat, but instead there is more focus on strength”, says Fanny, one of the medalists. Fanny is studying International Logistics and Supply Chain Management at JIBS and has been involved in rowing since she moved here to study in 2014.

JURA won medals in both individual and team disciplines. Some of the students were competing for the first time, and some are more experienced. Together the rowers from JU won one gold, one silver and one bronze.

“This was the first time we officially competed against the other universities in an indoor competition, and it was really fun! I didn’t think we were going to win. I can’t take credit for us winning( in4x Mixed Uni 1k), I have my team mates to thank”, says Fanny.

Other universities who participated in the championship was Lund University, KTH and Karolinska Institutet.
