"Really happy with my experience here"

Student, JTH.

Juan Esteban from Colombia choose the Supply Chain Management programme and the School of Engineering because he wanted to include the technical and academic scope that JTH can offer.

“I want to emphasise the enormous knowledge of my teachers and the great benefit of sharing their research and new findings,” says Juan Esteban.

Juan was extremely motivated by the idea of being part of an university with an international approach as JU and to study at a school that combines the theoretical and the practical approach, as JTH. He emphasizes that he received a warm and friendly welcome from Jönköping University and the School of Engineering.

“I am really happy with my experience here. I can feel how teachers are not just focused on traditional lectures, but showing high commitment to students to ensure the learning process. JTH is pretty much focused on companies' partnerships and involvement. Here you participate in major business fairs and develop projects with companies. Considering this approach, I am positive about finding a job after my graduation," says Juan.

A great advantage

He thinks that Jönköping University’s central location is a great advantage for students.

“Since the campus is right in the heart of the city, everything is within walking distance: shops, restaurants, cafés, and public transportation. This makes it easy for students to balance academic and social life.

Juan says that student life at JTH is active and engaging and that the many student organizations and events help create a strong sense of community at JU.

Differences compared to Colombia

“The student union organizes parties, networking events, and social activities, making it easy to meet new people. All this makes JU and JTH a great place to study.

The biggest differences he has noticed when studying in Sweden compared to Colombia is the approach to learning.

“Here in Sweden, education is very focused on discussions, sharing ideas and perspectives, and understanding that everyone’s input is valuable. In Colombia, the approach is more traditional, with lectures being the main way of teaching”, he says.
