Expanding Markets Award – winners announced
Three master students at JIBS have received the Expanding Markets Award for having presented the best export and marketing strategy for a Swedish company. The award is sponsored by Business Sweden, ALMI, EKN, SEK, and Swedfund.
The award ceremony, marking the end of the master course "Advanced International Marketing, Trade and Export Management”, took place at JIBS on Wednesday, 12 March.
Thomas Cyron (Germany), Jil Lambert (Germany), and Henok Hayle (Sweden) accepted the award of SEK 10,000 for their work with GeJi Industri AB, a local company that has been driving development in injection moulded plastic products since 1963, and now wanted help to get into the German market. The team has analysed the company internally and taken a deep look at the German market to find what factors GeJi needs to take into consideration.
Honorary mentions were given to Adam Pawel (Poland), Matej Tremko (Slovakia), Björn Bittner (Germany) and Sanna Persson (Sweden) who worked with Swede-Wheel, and Bicen Sun (China), Yuchen Luo (China), Askar Muratov (Kirgistan) and Richard Jansen (Netherlands), who worked with Esselte & Rapid.
”This course is unique in Sweden, and we give the students a real challenge”, said Benjamin Hartmann, PhD who is course responsible and examiner for this course. “I am really proud of how they have mastered their projects, and how every single work reflected JIBS’ values.”
“We have a common conviction,” said jury spokesperson Bo Leander at the award ceremony, “that it’s important for you as business students to get real connections with the business world, working with projects that are of importance to the companies.” He also noted that it had been almost impossible to choose a winner, since the jury had been so impressed by the presentations of all the students.
The master course "Advanced International Marketing, Trade and Export Management” aims to give students a better understanding of how international business can be conducted in practice. The course is done in collaboration between JIBS and Business Sweden, The Swedish Export Credit Agency (EKN), The Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK), Swedfund and ALMI, who gave guest lectures during the course.
Over 50 students from 17 countries have been working directly with 13 Swedish companies to assess and develop the marketing of their products to international markets. On March 11 to 12, all groups presented their solutions to a jury, with representatives from the export promotion organizations and JIBS, and the jury then chose the winners.
