Time for JIBS Entrepreneurship Challenge 2023
Between April 17 and 19, Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) and the School of Engineering (JTH) students will compete in a yearly 24-hour innovation race. The competition aims to inspire students to work with innovation, stimulate creativity and encourage teamwork. And in the pot is a prize pool of SEK 130.000.
The focus is on a real business problem in an existing Swedish company. Fifteen teams of four members, at least one of whom is a JIBS student, are selected to participate in the competition. The event will take place over three days, starting on 17 April, when the competing teams will receive information about the company.
On the 18 and 19 April, the teams will then work on a possible solution to the case problem provided by the company. Furthermore, during the days, they must prepare a short presentation/pitch of around seven minutes to present and sell their ideas to a jury.
On 19 April, it’s time to present their pitches to three juries that include representatives from JIBS, Science Park, and the case company. The six best pitches will be presented at the Grand Final starting at 14:00 to the Grand Jury, who will decide who has the best solution. The Grand Final is open to the public and will also be live streamed.
A generous prize pool
The first prize is a generous sum of 60 000 SEK, the second consists of 40 000 SEK, and the third is 20 000 SEK, all sponsored by Aktiestinsen Foundation. Moreover, a team can also win a prize of 10 000 SEK, sponsored by Science Park, for giving the best pitch.
The challenge is arranged by the student association Entrepreneurship Academy on JIBS. They have been working hard on the preparations for the race and are looking forward to the event finally taking place.
“We are extremely excited about this event and to see what the students will come up with. We have put a lot of time and effort into this event, and we can’t wait to see it come to life.”, says project leaders Emma Friedberg and Anna David.

This opportunity exists with the help of Aktiestinsens Foundation (Lennart Israelsson) and in collaboration with JIBS and the student association Entrepreneurship Academy. The competition has been developed to foster cross-disciplinary thinking and teamwork among students from JTH and JIBS. Additionally, allowing students to understand what real problems in companies might look like. This is a win-win situation for the company and the students. It can help develop innovative solutions for the Swedish company and challenge the students to develop ideas to solve a concrete business problem.
