More than 550 people who have applied for courses at Jönköping University (JU) came to PrevJU on 24 May, where they received information about JU and could participate in campus tours.
Record number of visitors to PrevJU
Over 550 people came to PrevJU on 24 May, which is a new record! PrevJU is a preview of Jönköping University (JU) for those who have applied to the autumn study programmes. Students and staff were on site to answer visitors' questions and show them around campus.
"It feels great to be here," says Judith Leijström from Falkenberg.
The visitors to PrevJU are people who have applied for a programme at JU and many of them were accompanied by relatives or friends. Students and staff were on hand to answer their questions about JU, student life, the four schools' programme and more. Jönköping Student Union talked about JU's many student associations and Destination Jönköping explained why Jönköping is a good city to live, study and work in.
The married couple Judith and Abbe Leijström from Falkenberg both want to study at JU. Judith has applied for Human Resources with a major in Psychology at the School of Education and Communication (HLK) and Abbe has applied for Industrial Product Realisation at the School of Engineering (JTH).
"Heard a lot of good things about JU"
"We have heard a lot of good things about JU from friends and family, both about the programmes and student life. We also like Jönköping very much. I am looking forward to the community at the school and studying something I will enjoy. It would be a big bonus if we both get accepted to JU, says Judith.
They found it valuable to come to PrevJU to learn more about JU. Abbe emphasizes that the Industrial Product Development programme at JTH provides a very broad foundation and that it has a good focus on both the national and international business community.
"In addition, there are many good companies in the region to collaborate with during the program and which you can apply to after graduation," says Abbe.
"I really hope we get in"
Anahit Avoyan and Leona Selymy from Jönköping and Elam Khorze from Eksjö have all applied for the Civilekonom programme at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS).
"I am interested in socio-economics and want to be self-employed in the future. This program will teach me a lot about it. I have friends who study here and they recommend me to do it too. I also like the fact that the programme is international and that you get to study and network with people from other countries," says Anahit Avoyan.
"It feels good to be here and I really hope we get in. I'm keeping my fingers crossed," says Leona Selymy.
"Great location in the middle of Jönköping"
Mohammed Al-shabaz from Vetlanda has the Nursing programme at the School of Health and Welfare as his first choice.
"I have siblings and friends who study at JU who say that the programmes and student life here are good. It is a great location on campus in the middle of Jönköping and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the area. Jönköping is also a great city with a wide range of entertainment, activities, restaurants and cafés," says Mohammed Al-shabaz.
Anders Wadell, project manager for PrevJU, was very pleased with the day.
"It's fantastic that a record number of people took the opportunity to come here for our preview of JU. Student ambassadors, the student Union and the student associations of the schools all did a great job answering all the curious questions. Thank you also to Sven Rydell, Head of Business and Industry at Jönköping Municipality, who told us what Jönköping has to offer our students both during student life and in terms of jobs after graduation," says Anders Wadell.
